Selecting Watercolor Set Colors

Here is a walkthrough of selecting colors for my on the go watercolor palette. I hope everyone is being safe out there and doing your part. While that is going on, here is my process on selecting colors for my travel watercolor set.

Process:
- Warm and cool colors of each primary colors. That's six colors right there!
- Hansa Yellow Light
- Hansa Yellow Deep
- Pyrrol Red
- Deep Scarlet
- Curelean Blue
- Ultramarine Blue
- Earth tone colors
- Yellow ochre
- Burnt sienna light
- A green color (I use green to modify colors not to paint grass/trees)
- Viridian
- Wild card color (this is color I may not be able to mix quickly in the field)
- Quinacridone Rose
- Very dark tone or color like Payne's gray or neutral tint
- Moonglow (I love this color. Beautiful dark value)

So there it is my custom 12 travel watercolor set for plein air painting. Feel free to leave comment or question.

Happy painting and stay safe!!!

I just ordered the new folio palette by Arttoolkit so I will looking to fill it. For my other palette I used the 15 colors recommended by Jane Blundell. But living in South Florida, there are colors that would be handy to have and not mix each time. I love your suggestions and your art! I'm a newbie and find your art journey and life are so inspiring!!

Mijello is also an excellent palette! I use it both at home and on the go. I was surprised to find that I could seal the lid and put two regular-size brushes, a pencil, an eraser, and a few paper towels inside. There's even more room, but it's enough for fast sketching on the go.
